What is the difference between resignation and acceptance?

Resignation and acceptance are two ways of dealing with difficult circumstances.

Resignation: Something bad has happened and there is nothing I can do … sigh ….

Acceptance: Something has happened (which I don’t like) and what can I do next?

Even though they are very different, many people (especially those prone to resignation), think they are the same.

Given the choice (and you are), which would you choose?
