A thousand thanks to Romy and Michaela for making this possible.

Getting Out Of Your Own Way – York – Saturday May 12th

Are you stuck?

Do you have projects, goals or outcomes that are taking you forever to get started or completed?

Do you get in your own way by procrastinating, avoiding what you need to do or fighting with yourself to do it?

Welcome to the ‘resistance’ – the unconscious blocks, fears and limiting beliefs that keep us from getting where we want to go.

There are two ways to deal with the resistance.

1. Tough it out

This is the traditional approach. Force yourself to do the work that needs to be done. Struggle through each task to get to your goal. You can do it this way (a lot of people do achieve great things this way) but it is a lot of effort and struggle.

Not only do you have to do the work required to reach your goal, you also have to do the hard work required to get yourself to do the work required to get you to your goal.

It’s a tiring and stressful way to achieve stuff.

2. Make it easier for yourself

This is a new way of doing things made possible by techniques such as EFT that let you easily change entrenched patterns of thought and feelings. In this approach you identify your blocks and limiting beliefs around a goal, dissolve them, then all you have to do is the work of the project.

This way you spend a little time at the beginning to clear your own resistance to your goal, when that is cleared you can do whatever needs to be done with yourself as an ally instead of an opponent.

If you want to know how to get out of your own way, there is a one day workshop “Getting Out Of Your Own Way in York on Saturday 12th May 2012 that will show you how to do it.

All you need to do is bring an unrealised goal, outcome or project to this workshop where you will learn

  1. How to make sure that this is the right goal for you.
  2. How to uncover and  unpack the limiting beliefs and blocks that get in the way of achieving that goal
  3. How to dissolve the blocks you have found using specific EFT strategies developed for working with these kinds of issues.
  4. How to create a path to achieving that goal without being overwhelmed or confused

At the end of the day you will have a plan for achieving your goal and much less resistance than you started with. You will also have an approach that you can use with any other project or goal you want to undertake.

This workshop is for you if you get stuck in your own projects, or you work with people who do.

There are only two requirements.

  1. You need a goal or project that is proving difficult to achieve.
  2. Some prior experience of EFT, preferably EFT Level 1 or above

The first four participants to apply can attend the course for just £65

Thereafter the full fee of £95.00 applies for the day.

Important: This workshop is about the “Law of Action” NOT the “Law of Attraction”. It is not about metaphysical manifestation of outcomes, it is about getting out of your own way so you are able to do the work that you need to do to get what you want.

It’s Not Your Fault

We have all sorts of internal reactions and responses to situations. These reactions and responses can propel us into all sorts of behaviours – some of them helpful, some of them not.

What we think and do comes from our brains and minds which have a evolutionary and personal history.

These histories have a powerful influence on us, but they are not our fault.

Evolution is not our fault

Each of us is at the leading edge of billions of years evolution. A vast expanse of trial and error (mostly error) that shaped all life on earth including us.

As humans we are the latest addition to a long line of evolutions best, perhaps the smartest, attempts to get it right.

Evolution has given us our big brains, which help us understand, feel, plan, remember and think. These brains are developments of earlier, smaller brains. Rather than build something new, evolution has added extras to earlier models, bolting on new parts to the older framework.

Rather than give us a shiny new BMW of a brain, evolution has given us a turbo charged Model T Ford with go faster stripes and a CD changer.

How To Use EFT To Soften Unpleasant Memories

In How To Use EFT To Solve Everyday Problems I described some of the difficulties people who are new to EFT have knowing where to start when they want to tackle a problem.

That article focused on using EFT to work with difficulties in the present. This article is designed to make it easier for newcomers to EFT (or anybody else) to take care of unpleasant memories, such as:

  • arguments
  • disappointments
  • embarrassment
  • accidents
  • and other mishaps

Unpleasant memories can be troublesome for two reasons:

1. Things we see, hear or feel in the present moment can remind us of earlier times.

If the memory is a good one then we welcome the feelings these “triggers” evoke. The memory of a good holiday or a success can leave us feeling happy or elated, but if the memories triggered were of difficult times, then we can be propelled back into whatever unpleasant feelings we had at that time.

Breaking the connection between the memory and the bad feelings can help inoculate us against those feelings being triggered again.

2. Repetitive experiences form the basis of our habits and behaviour traits.

We all learn things from our experiences, but what we learn from our experiences may not be very helpful.

Sometimes, when we look back on what we learnt we understand that it no longer serves us so we decide to do things differently in the future. Unfortunately, the part of us that learnt those responses is not very influenced by these understandings and we find ourselves repeating the same old patterns of behaviour.

Taking the emotional charge out of old memories is a good way to undermine those old unhelpful responses by learning new lessons from those experiences.

Becoming free from our memories and their legacy of unhelpful habits and responses can make a huge difference in our lives.

EFT Cafe – March 14th – How To Take A Step Back From Yourself

One of the problems that we have with problems is that we are stuck in them.

We are in the middle of what is going on and it can be difficult for us to get a perspective on what is going on for us.

It’s much easier to see other people problems because we are on the outside looking in, not the inside looking out.

In this month’s EFT Cafe you can learn a simple technique that will allow you to step back from a problem situation to give you a different perspective of yourself in that predicament and use that view to guide your tapping.

Using this process takes you out of the problem and gives you a freedom to manoeuvre that is not possible using standard EFT.

If you are a Level 2 Practitioner of EFT then the EFT Cafe qualifies as 2 hours of CPD.

Tea or coffee will be provided.

This EFT Cafe will be on Wednesday March 14th from 7-9pm at St Oswald’s Hospice, Gosforth Newcastle upon Tyne.  It costs just £10
